The Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSD is a decent contender if considering its $150 price and low-cost being its primary driver.

Obviously you wouldn't want to run any heavy database workloads on a QLC SATA 3.0 consumer SSD, but if you are experimenting, that's how the performance comes about.

The performance ends up being okay for the low-cost, high capacity 860 QVO solid-state drives -- at least quite a difference if you were debating between one of these drives or a conventional SATA 3.0 hard drive. Though in cutting costs, keep in mind the 860 QVO drives are only backed by a three year warranty while the slightly more expensive 860 EVO/PRO drives do offer a five year warranty besides being faster.

If you want to see how your own Linux storage solution(s) compare to the Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSD and the other drives benchmarked for this comparison, simply install the Phoronix Test Suite and then run phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1812224-SP-STORAGETE46.
