Google Cloud C3D Shows Great Performance With AMD EPYC Genoa
Right away when firing off some HPC benchmarks, the C3D instance easily blew past the prior generation C2D and N2D instances, to no surprise given the generational gains made with Genoa / Zen 4.
Not only was the Genoa C2D VMs delivering the best performance but was also capable of delivering the best value too in the computational heavy workloads.
Very healthy generational improvements with C3D on Google Cloud.
With Altair's OpenRadioss software there were also very nice improvements with EPYC Genoa. It's too bad there isn't a Google Cloud Sapphire Rapids VM around 60 vCPUs, but there are plenty of Genoa vs. Sapphire Rapids CPU benchmarks on Phoronix for those interested.
The C3D VMs are priced well that for CPU heavy workloads they can deliver the best value too of the instances tested.
