The performance differences can be more noticeable if you have been relying on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS rather than a more recent interim release and will now (or soon) be upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

GROMACS benchmark with settings of Implementation: MPI CPU, Input: water_GMX50_bare. Ryzen 9 7950X: Ubuntu 22.04.4 was the fastest.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X continued to typically outperform the Intel Core i9 14900K desktop.

OpenRadioss benchmark with settings of Model: Cell Phone Drop Test. Ryzen 9 7950X: Ubuntu 22.04.4 was the fastest.

In some workloads the Intel Core hybrid desktop CPU did benefit in going to Ubuntu 23.10 and newer.
