Linux 5.4 EXT4 / XFS / Btrfs RAID Performance On Four HDDs

Btrfs and XFS were tending to perform better than EXT4 with these Linux 5.4 HDD RAID benchmarks from the AMD Ryzen 5 APU setup.

The Btrfs RAID performance seems to be in much better shape now than in our last RAID comparison. I'll be doing similar SSD RAID benchmarks shortly.

Aside from these results for reference purposes, here is the geometric mean when looking at the different benchmarks conducted on the varying storage configurations for all tests that successfully tested on all RAID configurations and file-systems.

Btrfs' RAID on Linux 5.4 was performing the best for RAID0 and RAID10 modes while with RAID1, XFS was performing the best. Across the three tested RAID modes, EXT4 was performing the worst. Or when it came to testing the single Seagate IronWolf 6TB HDD performance, Btrfs and EXT4 were performing about the same with a slight lead for XFS.
