Examination:

Unlike many of the power supplies marketed to enthusiasts that come with LED fans, a stylish exterior, and other accoutrements, the EliteXStream series (along with other OCZ PSUs) focus upon top-notch performance and not necessarily the most fashionable power supply. The OCZ EliteXStream had a gunmetal black powder-coat finish. On the bottom of the power supply is a 120mm fan, which is black itself and covered by a black fan grille. On one side of the power supply is the OCZ Technology label that shares some of the power specifics for this unit. On the single +12V rail there is 62 Amps provided and 30 Amps on the +5V rail. This large +12V rail is more efficient and practical than going with multiple +12V rails with less power. The maximum combined wattage is 950 Watts, while 800 Watts is what's recommended. Stamped on the opposite side of the power supply is an OCZ logo.

At the rear of the OCZ EliteXStream are the power connector, power switch, and power indicator. As there is no fan on the end of the power supply, this side has a honeycomb mesh for allowing sufficient ventilation.

The EliteXStream is not a modular power supply. With that said, the OCZ EliteXStream has the following connectors: one 24-pin motherboard, one 4/8-pin ATX 12V, four PCI-E, eight 4-pin molex, one 4-pin FDD, and eight Serial ATA connections. The PCI Express connectors for the EliteXStream are compatible with both 6-pin and 8-pin connectors. All of the cables with this PSU are sufficiently long and should not pose any problems in ATX or Extended ATX cases. In addition, all of the cables are sleeved in a black mesh.

On the inside, the power supply design is by Impervio and the capacitors are manufactured by Hitachi. Protechnic Magic manufactures the 120mm fan used.
