Intel Atom 2GB Memory Performance

With the GtkPerf test, the GtkComboBox widget test yielded better performance with the increased memory while the SO-DIMMs made no impact with the GtkDrawingArea Pixbufs.

There you have it, some simple benchmarks comparing the Intel Atom performance with 1GB and 2GB of DDR2 system memory. In the tests used, doubling the system memory had really helped just with Java-based benchmarks, but in the real world when you are multi-tasking and have Firefox, Thunderbird, and other Linux desktop applications open for extended periods, the additional system memory should help with the netbook. With DDR2 system memory being so cheap these days, a 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM can be easily purchased for around $20 USD.
