Flexible IO Tester benchmark with settings of Type: Random Write, Engine: IO_uring, Buffered: No, Direct: Yes, Block Size: 4KB, Job Count: 32, Disk Target: Default Test Directory. Samsung 990 PRO 1TB was the fastest.

While the random read speeds were excellent, the random write performance for 4K block size and 32 concurrent jobs was quite poor. All of the tested PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs were the slowest of the tested drives for random writes.

Switching over to sequential reads, the read performance with the Corsair MP700 PRO 2TB was at the forefront of the tested drives. The sequential read performance of the MP700 PRO was around a 20% improvement over the Corsair MP700 (non-PRO) SSD and the Inland PCIe 5.0 2TB SSD that launched at the start of the year.

With 32 jobs of sequential reads, the MP700 PRO continued to provide a great showing for this PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD.

The sequential write performance was also in very good shape and leading across all of the tested drives. The sequential write performance was much better than the poor random write results.

The sequential write performance was great but on a value basis the PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs still carry a significant premium over the more mature PCIe 4.0 solid-state drives.
