Another Look At The Bcachefs Performance on Linux 6.7
With Samba's Dbench, the Bcachefs performance was similar to that of XFS.
With the CockroachDB database meanwhile the Bcachefs performance was similar to fellow copy-on-write file-system Btrfs.
The PostgreSQL performance atop Bcachefs was still the slowest of the tested file-systems with the defaults being tested on each file-system.
The Bcachefs file-system performance has improved since the second round of changes were merged for the Linux 6.7 cycle. In some cases Bcachefs is performing extremely well while in other cases there still is certainly room for more improvement. As the Bcachefs file-system matures over the coming months I'll be back around with more benchmarks as well as testing more of the Bcachefs features like multi-device support.
Those wishing to learn more about the Bcachefs file-system features can do so via Bcachefs.org and look for its premiere in the stable Linux 6.7 release around the end of the month.
