Making The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X Run Even Faster - By Loading Up Intel's Clear Linux

Out of 50 tests run on the various Linux distributions tested from this System76 Thelio Major with Threadripper 3990X, Intel's Clear Linux won 48% of those benchmarks. That's not quite as much as we are used to seeing with sometimes securing first place finishes in ~60%+ of the tests, but at least for this HEDT CPU and the range of mostly workstation-focused tests ran, the Intel open-source operating system was coming in front about half the time.

Coming most often in last place was Manjaro Linux and Fedora Workstation 31.

If taking the geometric mean of all the tests that ran on every distribution, Clear Linux did easily come out in front: Clear Linux was 14% faster than the slowest distribution (CentOS 8) or 6% faster than the second fastest distribution (Debian 10.3) from this System76 workstation with AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X. In our launch-day Linux benchmarks of the Threadripper 3990X, Ubuntu 20.04 daily was used and in comparison Clear Linux here with these tests came out to being almost 9% faster.
