When will be solved main Linux Deskrop problems as:

          1. https://github.com/xkbcommon/libxkbcommon/issues/420

          2. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xkeyb...g/-/issues/416

You can't use CTRL-Shift and Alt-Shift for keyboard layout changing.
As shortcuts in different languages do not work as well.

Why can't I just choose a solid background color in Gnome as in the good old days? I need the desktop to display the files in the desktop folder (with DING) , not for some fancy pictures.

Yes, with gsettings you can poke around to set background to none but I wouldn't call that a user friendly experience...

EDIT: I case you are eager to know:

            Code:
            gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options none
            gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background primary-color '#305080'

Yeahhh.. I'm no expert on licensing and photography.
But can't they just pay some photographers to shoot and edit some decent pics or something?
Hell perhaps people would do it for free just for the honor of having their pics added as wallpaper.

Fedora 40 would be the perfect distribution, if there weren't the codec issues.

                  I always follow this: https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/Multimedia

Then I install something like mpv, which plays everything I throw at it.

The official reason is that it is too much trouble to maintain the code needed for this functionality.

I kid you not, I will try and find the link where the Gnome devs said it was too much trouble to maintain three lines of code.
